DAY 2

Langa Bicycle Ride & Day 1 Cape Town Jazz Festival

After breakfast you will meet Away to Africa’s extended family. You will take a quick train ride into the town of Langa and then go on a bicycle tour throughout Langa Township. You will enjoy a heartwarming meal while listening to music and the history of Langa. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to spend a couple of hours in the afternoon volunteering in the community of Cape Town through our affiliate community outreach program.

You will then head to lodging in order to change clothes prior to heading to eat and onto Cape Town International Jazz Festival for more music, dancing and mingling.

DAY 3

Robben Island & Day 2 of Jazz Festival

Start your morning with a cultural excursion as you visit Robben Island and Robert Sobukwe Memorial.

Afterwards, you will head to dinner and a night out to enjoy the second day of Cape Town International Jazz Festival so you can listen to music, dance and network at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

DAY 4

Table Mountain & Wine Tasting

Get ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure as you take a cable car up one of the oldest mountains in the world, Table Mountain. You will have the option of taking a brief tour on the top of the mountain or take time to yourself to enjoy the view. Don’t forget you will have a personal tour guide who will take pictures of you and the views throughout your entire journey so feel free to get lost in the view!

Relax, dine, and sip on South Africa’s wine of your choice as you tour two of South Africa’s wine vineyards before you head back to Cape Town for dinner.

DAY 5

Journey through Jo’burg & Drumming Classes

Enjoy breakfast and afterward you will take an early flight to Johannesburg.

Upon our arrival into Johannesburg you will take a late afternoon walk through the artsy neighborhood of Maboneng and take drumming and dancing lessons on a rooftop (or Art Gallery). After getting some rest, enjoy an evening of delicious local food and jazz.

Afterwards, you will go to our lodging to relax and head out where we will experience Art, Culture and a traditional dinner at a Jazz lounge in Maboneng.

DAY 6

Revolution in Jo’burg

You will take a tour in the heart of Jo’burg, Soweto, learn about the history of Apartheid at the Apartheid Museum and then head to Soweto to explore Hector Pieterson Museum and Nelson Mandela’s home.

Enjoy lunch on Vilakazi Road where you will enjoy some nice music and vibes.

Spend the evening relaxing with your choice of a massage, a night out listening to a live band or simply staying in to relax.

DAY 7

Dinokeng National Park

Venture out to Dinokeng Game Reserve. Enjoy a day of viewing Africa’s Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Tigers and Buffalos. You will also experience hundreds of other mammals who make their home in the Game Reserve such as giraffes, zebras, and springbok.

DAY 8

Panorama Route

Take in the views as we travel a few hours outside of Johannesburg towards the amazingly beautiful Panorama Route. We will have lunch at Bourkes Luck Potholes and take in views at Berlin Falls.

Spend the evening counting stars in the clear sky of Mpumalanga Province.

DAY 9

God’s Window

Prepare to have your breath taken away as you take a small hike to the top of God’s Window.
Meditate and take in the view or walk around and capture the moment of the picturesque setting that is sure to create a lasting impression for your final evening in South Africa.

After lunch we will drive back to Johannesburg.

Depart Mama Afrika

Take time and reflect on your visit to Mama Afrika while enjoying a signature, departure breakfast. Afterwards we will head to O.R. Tambo International Airport for your departure home.
