DAY 1

Arrive in Dakar – Senegal’s Capital

Friday – May 27, 2022

Welcome to the country of Teranga, which means hospitality in Wolof. Upon your arrival at Dakar – Blaise Diagne Airport (DSS) you will be welcomed by your local guide and transferred to the hotel. Enjoy the afternoon to refresh and relax before the start of your tour in Senegal.

DAY 2

Lac Rose – Pink Lake

Saturday – May 28, 2022

After breakfast you will travel to The Retba Lake which is also known as ‘Pink Lake’ because of its color. Visit surrounding villages and meet locals who extract salt from the lake.

End your evening with a walk on the dunes.

DAY 3

Dakar – Market Walk

Sunday – May 29, 2022

Today you will explore the Dakar’s authentic neighborhoods and markets as you walk throughout Fass Delorme and Medina and have the option to taste traditional fish, vegetables and meat.

Also, view the Mali market to learn more of Senegalese fabric, beur de karite, and natural medicines.

DAY 4

Dakar – Goree Island

Monday – May 30, 2022

Experience a panoramic tour throughout the vibrant African capital of Dakar. Indulge in Senegal’s monuments and history when you visit the African Renaissance Monument, Independence Square, ending in the artisanal village and market known for hosting more than a hundred craftsmen: sculptors, weavers, tailors, and goldsmiths.

Relaxation & Shopping

Take the day to relax poolside at your hotel or on the beachfront before heading into town to shop for garments, paintings and souvenirs.

DAY 6

Cayar Fishing Village

Wednesday – June 1, 2022

After breakfast we’ll head to the fishing villages of Cayar. We’ll learn about & sample the village’s main resource, delicious fresh fish! Head to the reggae restaurant on stilts for lunch for an amazing meal surrounded by water!

DAY 7

Traditional Touba

Thursday – June 2, 2022

Enjoy a drive to the west-central region to the holy city of Touba. Dress in traditional garments and to visit and/or pray at one of the largest Mosque in Africa, Great Mosque of Touba.

Spend the remaining of the evening around a bonfire listening to the stories of legends within the community.

DAY 8

Cooking Classes & Drumming

Friday – June 3, 2022

Spend time with a Senegalese family at their house for cooking lessons. Afterwards, enjoy a lion’s dance and drumming called ‘Simbe’ while drinking Attaya (Senegalese tea).

African Renaissance in Dakar

Saturday – June 4, 2022

For your last day exploring Senegal where you will travel to the African Renaissance Monument, Museum of Black Civilizations, and a bit of shopping.

Boat Ride on the Delta of Saloum & Community Outreach

Sunday – June 5, 2022

Depart after breakfast to visit the Delta of Saloum. We will take a relaxing boat ride to Maroth Island a serene traditional village for our Community Outreach program and lunch .

DAY 11

Mbor & Naming Ceremony

Monday – June 6, 2022

Travel to Mbour to understand more of Senegalese history before your Naming Ceremony.
