Explore The Most Commonly Asked Questions About
Traveling to Africa with Away to Africa
CHOOSING A TRIP
What type of trip is right for me?
We suggest you take our 5 minute Questionnaire to determine which African country suits you best. Also, read through each itinerary for details. Our short list of recommendations are; Ghana for culture, South Africa for beautiful terrain and nightlife, Morocco for relaxation, Kenya and/or Tanzania for relaxation, safaris and beach life. This shortlist is limited and does not include all our destinations which is why we encourage you to explore each itinerary as they are all unique and include a wealth of experiences.
Typically how many travelers are in each tour group?
Each tour varies in size ranging from 2-30 travelers. However, for larger groups we will split the travelers into groups of 10-15.
Who will lead the tours on the trip?
Each tour is led by an Away to Africa tour partner who originates from the destination country and possesses extensive knowledge of their home country.
Are these family friendly tours?
Yes, all of our tours are family friendly but if you are traveling with your family you must inform us the ages of your travel group when making a deposit or if you are booking one of our ‘Private Departures’ you should notify us prior to making your reservation.
Do any of the tours have an age limit?
Our tours do not have an age limit but there are some activities on a few tours that will restrain younger children or adults with mobility concerns from participating. For instance our Ghana Tour offers novice hiking and canopy walkway experiences. We would recommend travelers under the age of seven (7) and adults who are limited in their mobility to omit or limit this experience.
Also, if there are children under the age of 18 attending a tour with a larger group we require separate transportation for the family with the child they are traveling with.
Are trips physically demanding?
There are some trips which include excursions which require a specified mobility. For instance our Ghana tour requires you to walk and ‘hike’ a distance of 1-2 hours.
Are tours suitable for solo travelers?
All of our tours are suitable for solo travelers and we highly recommend that solo travelers book with Away to Africa! The majority of our tours attract multiple solo travelers so you can relax knowing that there are others traveling solo on the same trip. Additionally, all of our tours include an Away to Africa representative who travels with the client(s) throughout the entirety of the tour.
Are tours accessible/disability friendly?
We recommend that all travelers who have a disability restricting mobility contact Away to Africa directly. We offer a variety of tours which are wheelchair friendly, such as our South Africa and Morocco tours.
Are tours suitable for LGBTQ travelers?
Away to Africa promotes safe traveling for all of our travelers. Travelers of the LGBTQ can rest assured that when inquiring or booking an Away to Africa tour we will advise which countries are LGBTQ friendly.
Can I amend my tour to a longer or shorter time period?
Each traveler has the ability to amend the number of days on any tour to their liking. For all personalized tours travelers should complete the form for our Private Departures.
