Day 5 | Namkelekili Mzantsi (Welcome to South Afrika!) – Today we will travel to the Mother City of Cape Town, South Africa. A lovely evening awaits you as we share a traditional South African meal with our favorite South African chefs. Enjoy a couple of glasses of wine and before the night end you will receive a special gift worth sharing.
Day 6 | Cape Town’s Freedom Fighters & Bicycle – Travel through Langa Travel to Robben Island and learn of the great works of political prisoners including Nelson Mandela, Robert Sobukwe, Walter Sisulu, Govan Mbeki and others who fought against the Apartheid regime. Afterwards join us for one of our favorite experiences on the tour as we learn the history of Langa on bicycles! Meet our South African family and new friends as we enjoy a heartwarming meal, dance to the music of a local band.
Day 7 | Table Mountain & Wine Vineyards – Get ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure as we take a cable car up one of the oldest mountains in the world, Table Mountain. Don’t forget we will have a personal tour guide who will take pictures of you and the views throughout your entire journey so feel free to get lost in the view! Relax, dine, and sip on South Africa’s wine of your choice as we tour two of South Africa’s wine vineyards before we head to Johannesburg for an evening of jazz and/or reggae music.
Day 8 | Revolution in Johannesburg – Spend the day in the heart of Jo’burg, Soweto as we learn about the history of Apartheid at the Museum and then head to Soweto to learn of the Soweto Uprising, explore Hector Pieterson Museum and Nelson Mandela’s home. Afterwards we will spend some time with our Community Outreach Program before heading to a braai with friends.
Day 9 | Safari at Pilanesberg National Park – With mountains standing in the backdrop, you will enjoy a day of viewing Africa’s Big 5: Lions, Leopards, Rhinos, Elephants and Buffalos at Pilanesberg National Park.
Day 10 | Maboneng Vibez & Day 1 at AFROPUNK – Take this day for yourself. Enjoy the day at the spa or hang with new friends and our South African family in Maboneng. Attend a rooftop party or enjoy an afternoon braai before heading to Day 1 of AFROPUNK and take in the sounds of your favorite musicians from around the world.
Day 11 | New Years on Constitution Hill, Day 2 at AFROPUNK– Take time to reflect on 2018 as we spend the day relaxing before heading to Constitution Hill for Day 2 of AFROPUNK. Ring in the 2019 surrounded by beautiful people and energy at AFROPUNK!
Day 12 | Depart Mama Afrika – Take time and reflect on your visit to Mama Afrika while enjoying breakfast or you can always extend your stay in South Africa and join us on our extended tour to Mpumalanga!
