Welcome to Ghana! After landing at the Kotoka International Airport, your private Away to Africa driver will transport you to your lodging where an authentic, Ghanaian cuisine awaits you.

Day 2 | History of Kumasi/Kumase

Arrive to Kumasi, land of the Asantemen andlearn of the great works of Osei Kofi Tutu I, Okofomo Anokye, and the Ashanti Empire before viewing the Okomfo Anokye Sword.

Day 3 | Kente & Lake Bosumtwi

Learn of the Ashanti centuries-old craft of making Kente cloth in Adanwomase before we travel to Lake Bosumtwi, the only natural lake in the Ashanti Region

Day 4 | Family & History in Accra

Gather for lunch with our Ghanaian friends before viewing Accra’s most iconic landmarks including; Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, Independence Square Accra and The Arts Center.

Day 5 | Slave Castles in Cape Coast

Trace the steps and hear the stories of Africans captured as slaves and their last moments prior to their brutal voyage West while viewing Fort Amsterdam, Cape Coast & Elmina Castle.

Day 6 | Kakum National Park

Brace yourself as we walk 100 feet in the air on a canopy walkway in the middle of a forest at Kakum National Park.

Day 7 | Ada

Meet with friends and families within the community to learn of their culture, cook with some elders and engage in cross-cultural activities such as; Pottery Workshop and Mat Weaving Classes

Day 8 | Mount Gemi

Prepare for your journey to Amedzofe where we will climb and witness amazing views of Mount Gemi. Afterwards, we will head to Mountain Paradise for dinner and lodging with a mountainous view.

Day 9 | Wli Falls

Voyage to the highest waterfall in West Africa, Wli Waterfalls.Relax in your hotel along Lake Volta in Akosombo for the evening.

Day 10 | Akosombo

Awake to breakfast on the waterfront before learning the history of the Volta Dam. Eat a traditional dinner, with some of our favorite Ghanaian dishes such as fufu, red red and banku!

Day 11 | Community Outreach in Aburi Mountains

Visit Aburi Botanical Gardens in Aburi Mountainsand spend a couple of hours volunteering through our affiliate community outreach program.

Day 12 | Pan African Lessons in Accra

Travel to the W.E.B. Dubois Memorial Centre for Pan African Culture to learn of the Pan African influence throughout the Diaspora.Enjoy the sunset as you eat and join locals dancing and listening to music along Bojo (or Labadi) beach.

Day 13 | Relaxation & Shopping

Take time to relax and enjoy brunch at Coco Lounge.You can spend the day relaxing in Osu with our extended family and friends and shop for souvenirs.

All American, Canadian, British and Jamaican passport holders must obtain a visa prior to and possess a valid, up to date Passport which does not expire within the six (6) months from date of travel.

Required Vaccinations: Yellow Fever Vaccination is required to enter into Zanzibar (Tanzania).
